My name is Czarina Garcia (she/her/hers), and I am a graduate student at San Jose State University currently taking her certification studies at Strategic Management of Digital Assets and Services program.
I currently reside in the San Francisco, California. Before moving to the States, I was born and raised in Metro Manila, Philippines, where I received my BA in Communication Arts from De La Salle University-Manila. I also spent a significant part of my formative years living in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
For the past decade, I’ve occasionally worked on various film and video projects as an editor and more recently, I’ve taken on a permanent role as a project manager for a non-profit dedicated to funding, producing, and presenting Asian American stories to a public media audience.
My passions include media literacy, diasporic storytelling, and, more recently, digital content strategies and systems — the very reason I was drawn to the iSchool Program!
Outside of work, I love all things film, travel, and pop culture. Some of my favorite films include works from Wong Kar Wai, Gurinder Chadha, Joe Wright, Lulu Wang’s “The Farewell”, Andrea Arnold’s “Fish Tank”, Tom Tywker’s “Run Lola Run”, Julie Ha & Eugene Yi’s “Free Chol Soo Lee” and The Daniels’ “Everything, Everywhere All At Once”.
In my spare time, you can find me lounging at local cafes, jamming to ’90s and Y2K R&B, or binge-watching YouTube video essays, cooking videos and Korean dramas.
